
Classic Tour du Mont Blanc – 7 days of trekking

We invite you to join us on one of the most magnificent mountain treks in the world. Our route passes through eight spectacular alpine valleys, alpine passes over 2,000 meters above sea level and three countries. Tour du Mont Blanc trekking is 165 kilometers long with 11000 meters of elevation gain to climb. During the trek from hut to hut, we will provide all accommodations with food, as well as hotel accommodations in Chamonix before and after the trek and in Courmayeur halfway along the trail. We will trek in a group of up to 12 people under the supervision of an UIMLA international guide and will traverse the full route of this iconic trail.

About the place
The Mont Blanc chain is 35 km long and contains 28 separate peaks of more than 4000 meters above sea level. Reigning over them is Mont Blanc 4810 m above sea level; the roof of Europe, stirring the ambitions of mountaineers and the imagination of artists. During the expedition, accommodation is provided in alpine chalets and comfortable guesthouses in the iconic villages at the foot of the highest peak.

Accommodation
All accommodations are included, including overnight stays before and after the trek. Accommodations include breakfast (at hotels in Chamonix and Courmayeur) and breakfast and dinner (at refuges and guesthouses on the trail):
Hotel in the center of Chamonix – 2 nights (before the trek and after the trek), rooms for 3 or 4 people with bathrooms, breakfast included;



Refuge de Nant Borrant, dormitory room, accommodation with bedding, shared bathrooms, showers with hot water, breakfast and dinner included;

Refuge des Mottets, dormitory of basic standard so called “rustic” ;), access to bathrooms with showers with hot water, breakfast and dinner included;


Hotel in the center of Courmayeur – 3 nights’ accommodation, 2- and 3-bed rooms with bathrooms, bedding and towels included, breakfast included;

Who is it for?
Tour du Mont Blanc trekking is addressed to:
- people in good shape – depending on the day we have about 4 to 8 hours of mountain hiking and on some days there is 1000 meters of elevation gain, the length of the routes is 15-18 km per day, there is also 1 rest day in Courmayeur,
- people with basic mountaineering experience – there are no artificial facilitations, exposures,
- people in very good health,
- adults.

- first installment – payment within 7 days of booking – 50% of the amount for the course
- second installment – is paid 60 days before trekking begins – 50% of the total amount

Schedule
Day 1. Chamonix
Chamonix – a city inextricably associated with Mont Blanc. A beautiful, atmospheric city, where at every step you will find references to the surrounding mountains and nature. The history of conquering the surrounding peaks and crags is combined with modern mountaineering. A place where every mountain lover wants to be at least once. We will be lucky, because we start and end our trek in Chamonix, so there will be time to enjoy the view of Mont Blanc or Aiguille du Midi while sitting in a cafe or restaurant and drinking tasty coffee or French wine.
Itinerary: a day to arrive in Chamonix, check in at the hotel, check-in with the UIMLA guide, have dinner together and discuss the plan for the next day and check out the equipment. Possibility to make additional purchases (for trekking, equipment, etc.).
Accommodation: hotel Pointe Isabelle in the center of Chamonix, possibility to leave a deposit for the whole trek free of charge


Day 2. Chamonix – Val Montjoie
A day at the foot of two beautiful four-thousand-metre peaks – the Aiguille de Bionnassay and Domes de Miage. However, before we can see them in all their glory, we have to cross an awe-inspiring bridge that spans between two banks of a rushing river flowing out of the Bionnassay Glacier. Later, alpine meadows and a meal await us at the Miage hut, which offers a magnificent view of the Domes du Miage and the Montjoie Valley. We will end the day with dinner and an overnight stay at the atmospheric Nant Borant chalet.
Itinerary: start in Les Houches; take the gondola lift to Bellevue at 1801 meters above sea level (included). Reaching the Col de Tricot pass (2120 meters above sea level). Lunch at the Miage hut after descending from the pass. Descent to the village of Les Contamines 1167 meters above sea level. Drive (bus or cab) to the exit of the Val Montjoie (1210 m) and transfer to the Nant Borrant refuge (1459 m), dinner and overnight.

Day 3. Les Contamines – Les Chapieux
A long, outstandingly mountainous day ending with an overnight stay at the Refuge de Mottets (1,870 meters above sea level). Along the way, we will have to cross the higher parts of the Val Monjoie, where there will be an opportunity to observe mountain goats or marmots. From the Bonhomme Pass 2479 meters above sea level, there is a magnificent view of the region from which we are walking, and on the other side awaits us the huge Vallee des Glaciers (Valley of the Glaciers), surrounded by countless peaks. However, before we start hiking through the glacial moraines leading to the valley outlet, we will visit Refuge da la Croix de Bonhomme to have a meal before the next stage of the trek.
Itinerary: start after breakfast at the Nant Borrant refuge (1459 meters above sea level). Reaching the Col de Bonhomme pass 2479 m. Lunch at Croix du Bonhomme refuge, after descending from the pass and descend to Les Chapieux village 1550 m. Then short drive (bus or cab) to Refuge de Mottets (1870 m). Dinner and overnight at the refuge.

Day 4. Les Chapieux – Val Veny
A day during which, as you reach altitude, your fatigue diminishes, as the surrounding views easily allow you to forget about it. After reaching the Col de la Seigne – a pass that is also the border between France and Italy, we will descend into one of the most beautiful Alpine valleys. Val Veny has it all – alpine pastures, chalets with wonderful views, glaciers, a mountain river and a view of Mont Blanc. After the mountain experience, a return to civilization awaits. There is no better place to rest than Courmayeur (the End of the World), the last and highest village in the Aosta Valley.
Itinerary: start after breakfast at the Refuge de Mottets hut (1870 meters above sea level). Crossing the Col de la Seigne pass 2516 m. France-Italy border. Lunch at the Combal refuge, after descending from the pass. Descent down the Val Veny to the bus stop and transfer to Courmayeur 1250 m. Overnight at a hotel in Courmayeur.

Day 5. Courmayeur
A day during which you should definitely stroll through the picturesque streets of Courmayeur, visit atmospheric cafes, have a delicious lunch, shop and relax. Those in need of additional mountain experiences have the unique opportunity to take a gondola lift to the Helbronner viewpoint, and from there, over the Blanche Glacier, to the Aiguille du Midi, which towers over Chamonix. Meanwhile, those in need of relaxation can head to a nearby spa complex.
Itinerary: rest day. A stay in the town of Courmayeur. Possibility to take a cable car to, for example, the Aiguille du Midi (3842 meters above sea level) or enjoy the nearby spa. Both options are at an additional cost and carried out on your own.

Day 6. Courmayeur – Arnouva
We are moving on to the Italian Val Ferret. We will start the day with a steep forest climb to the ridge where the Bertone hut is crouching. After a rest, we will begin a very pleasant traverse above the valley, which will lead us to Refugio Bonatti for dinner and after that we will come back to Courmayeur for the night.
Itinerary: start after breakfast at the hotel. Lunch at the Bertone hut (1977 m).

Day 7. Val Ferret – La Fouly
We leave the Aosta Valley by hiking the gradually ascending trail on the Grand Col Ferret to cross the Italian-Swiss border. From now on we will be accompanied by livestock farms, and what follows… cows. At our lunch spot there is an opportunity to sample the delicious cheeses produced on site. After descending to La Fouly, a picturesque mountain village where we will spend the night, the opportunity to replenish our supplies at a nearby store.
Itinerary: start after breakfast in Refuge Bonatti. Short descend to the valley. Crossing the Grand Col Ferret 2537 m above sea level, Italy-Switzerland border. Lunch at La Peule chalet (1977 m). Dinner and overnight at a guesthouse in the village of La Fouly.

Day 8. Champex – Trient
We will start the day with a rather long ride on a local bus. It’s a kind of reward, before the grueling climb ahead of us to the highest point of the day, Portalo. The reward is magnificent views of the Swiss Alps.
Itinerary: start after breakfast in La Fouly (about 1,700 m above sea level), transfer by bus to the village of Champex (1,466 m above sea level). Reaching Portalo 2049 m. Lunch along the way. Dinner and overnight in the village of Trient (1280 m).

Day 9. Trient – Chamonix
The last day of our trek is the return to France, and consequently to Chamonix. Before that, we face another steep forest climb to the Col la Balme region – a pass that is also a national border. There is a hut on the pass, and the usually windy weather there is compensated by a spectacular view of the Chamonix Valley and the Mont Blanc massif which will accompany us for most of the descent to Le Tour.
This descent can be shortened by descending by cable car.
Itinerary: start after breakfast in Trient (about 1280 meters above sea level). Crossing the Aiguillette des Posettes 2201 m. Lunch at the hut on Col la Balme (2191 m). Walk up the trail to Le Tour and transfer by bus to Chamonix. Dinner and overnight in Chamonix.

Day 10. Chamonix
Breakfast at the hotel. End of the expedition, return to the country or extend your stay on your own.
Transportation
IMPORTANT: In the event of cancellation of the trip, the tour operator is not obliged to refund the cost of the air tickets. Please do not buy air tickets without contacting the tour operator in advance (for the final confirmation of the trip).
Transfer from the Geneva Airport to Chamonix is on your own – the cheapest option to get from Geneva airport to Chamonix is the FLIX BUS. It costs about €20 + €6 for extra luggage (when booking online you have to tick special luggage), the bus ride takes about 2h. Departure from Geneva airport: 7:35, 10:20, 14:00, 17:05, 17:45, 19:05, 20:05.
Insurance
Participants must have mountain sports insurance (that covers helicopter rescue). We strongly recommend that this also includes cancellation cover.
